THE SIXTIES - THE SHRIMP - THE FALL COLLECTIONS

In Paris, today is tomorrow. Monsieur Alexandre sees Jean Shrimpton as the beautiful woman of the future. The abstract coiffure, an oblong of polished hair created for Harper's Bazaar.

Dior's silver lame edged from neck to hem in pearls and silvered rhinestones blown back into Marc Bohan's most alluring silhouette, looped cowl within cowl.

Lanvin's feathery fantasy by Jules-Francois Crahy. A champagne froth of ostrich feathers scattered on lace and organza.

Cardin's angelic dinner dress. White crepe shirred at the neckline with hem-stitched edged sleeves like folded wings.

Forquet's Roman draperies, wrapped and hooded. The dress, a black crepe toga with one long sleeve. The other sleeve billowing white silk.

From Gres, a winged dress of aubergine satin. Deep V-plunge front and back, slit to the knee at the sides.

Saint Lauren't beautifully bared black crepe. The midriff exposed and centred with a jewel-clasped point below a cowl- draped kerchief top that ties in a casual knot at the back.

Bias-cut backless evening dress from Irene Galitzine. A spiral sheath of cloque draped from an asymmetrical halter neckline.

Balmain's romantic fur. Long-haired brown sable collar and cuffs piled on short-haired nutria jacket. Sable hat.

Herrera and Ollero's cascading headdress in midnight blue tulle cut and crunched like ribbons, scattered with red anemones.

Saint Laurent's rose pink gaberdine short dinner dress, bound in emerald green, gathered onto a bias skirt edged in green at the hem.

Another Saint Laurent short dinner dress. Diamante-sparkled sleeves and square yoke gathered onto liquid green silk crepe that flows with the body.

Dior's op-art shifting squares and diagonals by Marc Bohan.

Capucci's optical illusion evening dress intricately woven from black and white satin ribbon.   Castillo's op-artful jacket in sparkling zig-zag jet pattern paved in sequins worn open over a shaft of white satin.

Veneziani. Black and white harlequin glitter of black beading and silver Lurex on white wool.

A fall of feathers from Dior.  A soft bonnet of ostrich feathers in palest gray over a beige crepe dress.

Saint Laurent's 'Dress of Tomorrow' abstract inspired by Mondrian.

Black grosgrain stripes on acid green wool, by Saint Laurent.

Dior's sleek longer jacket, hitting the hipline in charcoal and black jigsaw check over matching slim skirt gathered in front.

Nina Ricci's new big coat with Gerard Pipart side-closure  buttons.

From Cardin, a new cape, shaped with welt seams, double-breasted and hip-length over a sleeveless dress welted at the neck and pockets.
